Free painting quote template for Australian painters
A useful painting quote makes the work clear before anyone compares the price. This is a blank, reusable template for painting business owners, not a homeowner quote request and not a sample of a completed customer job.
Download or copy the painting quote template
Free, no email required. Word is editable; the PDF is a blank three-page print version, not a fillable form.
Replace the brackets with your job details. Edits stay on this page: they are not saved or sent to us. Download your text version before leaving.
What is inside the template?
The Word document, printable PDF and text version follow the same three-part structure:
| Part | What to fill in |
|---|---|
| Quote and scope | Your business and customer details, quote number and validity, site address, areas and surfaces, preparation, paint products, coat system and colours |
| Commercial terms and price | Exclusions, access, protection and cleanup, timing assumptions, variations, AUD price breakdown, GST treatment and payment stages |
| Warranty, terms and acceptance | Only the warranty you actually provide, reviewed job-specific terms and attachments, the next step and acceptance details |
There are no suggested rates, default deposit percentages or assumed warranty promises. Set those details for the actual job and the requirements that apply.
How to adapt it after a measure-up
- Replace every bracketed field. Add your business name, contact details, ABN and licence details where applicable, then the customer and property details.
- List the work area by area. Add or remove scope rows so the quote matches what you measured. Name the surfaces and preparation, not just “interior repaint”.
- Confirm the paint specification. Record products, finishes, coats and colour approvals. Do not leave product choices or unpriced extra work ambiguous.
- Check the commercial details. Make the price breakdown, GST status, payment stages, timing and exclusions consistent with the actual agreement.
- Review before sending. Replace all placeholders, check the totals, attach the reviewed terms and give the customer a clear next step. Remove the template instructions and footer if they do not belong in your customer document.
For the reasoning behind each section, read how to write a painting quote that wins the job. That guide explains the approach; this page provides the reusable document.
A painting estimate template is a starting point, not a compliance check
Be clear whether your document is an estimate, a fixed-price quote or part of a separate contract. Do not rename one as another without checking the wording and how you intend to use it.
Have the applicable tax, licensing, contract, deposit, warranty and consumer requirements checked for the work and location. The template does not establish compliance with Queensland or other legal requirements and is not legal advice.
A clear quote still needs a follow-up
Sending a document is not the end of the process. Confirm that it arrived, answer questions and agree the next step. Use the painting quote follow-up guide to plan a sequence, and stop contacting a customer who declines or asks you to stop.
If you want the enquiry handling, measure-up booking, proposal preparation and follow-up handled around your site visits, see Quotewright’s lead generation and quote booking service for painters. You set the scope and price and approve the proposal. A booked appointment is not a guaranteed painting job.
Common questions
Is this painting quote template free?
Yes. The Word, PDF and plain-text versions are free to download without an email address. Replace the placeholders with details for the actual job before sending a quote.
Can I edit the painting quote template?
The Word document and on-page text are editable. The PDF is a blank three-page version for printing, not a fillable PDF form. On-page edits are not saved or sent to Quotewright.
What should I include in a painting estimate or quote?
Include business and customer details, the property address, areas and surfaces, preparation, products and coats, exclusions, timing assumptions, an AUD price breakdown, GST treatment where applicable, payment terms, actual warranty terms and a clear next step. Check any contract requirements that apply to the job.
Is a painting quote template enough for a Queensland building contract?
Do not assume it is. Licensing, contract, deposit, warranty and consumer requirements can depend on the job and location. Have the applicable requirements and job-specific terms checked before use. This is a general template, not legal advice or a claim of legal compliance.
